A comprehensive list of my favorite characters from my favorite media!
(I keep this because it makes it easier to decide on what to draw lol)
[This post will probably be edited every so often, so make sure to go to the original and not any Reblogs for the most up-to-date version!]
[page break because LONG LIST IS LONG]
I’ve had this idea ever since seeing Across the Spider Verse and I felt like sharing it here.
(Warning: I may be totally off and misremembering things, so sorry in advance ahdsfkdf.)
Remember that scene towards the beginning when Miguel and Jessica show up to help Gwen fight the Vulture? There was a joke where Gwen says “knock yourself out” at Miguel, who then proceeds to get hit from behind.
The reason Miguel doesn’t dodge out of the way is because he actually doesn’t have a Spider-Sense. His origin story is different from other Spider-Men (direct experimentation as opposed to a spider bite), so he has a different powerset. (Hence the fangs, and the climbing with claws instead of sticking.)
Obviously these movies differ greatly from the original Spider-verse comics, straying away from the mystical angle more towards an MCU-style scifi angle. (Heck, the initial diagram Miguel shows of ‘all of reality’ looks like it was pulled straight from Loki.) But, hear me out, they might be taking more inspiration than we realize.
Just like how the Spider-Society guards the Canon and the Spider-Verse that surrounds the Multiverse, in the comics all Spider-people protect what was known as the Web of Life and Destiny.
One prominent Spider-Verse character that has yet to appear in the movies, Madame Web, harnesses The Web’s powers to see into the future of all realities.
Now if I remember correctly, (and please correct me if I’m wrong), there was a Spider-Man comic where the Spider Sense power was connected to the Web of Life and Destiny.
Essentially what Spiders thought was just wider awareness was actually a mild form of precognition. Being a Spider connected you to reality in a more heightened way than anyone else.
So now that I’ve established all this, hear me out–
Remember when Miguel tried to take over the life of an alternate version of himself, and that caused all of that reality to collapse?
WELL… Maybe the real reason that happened isn’t just because Miguel defied a 'canon event’… maybe its because HE’S AN ANOMOLY HIMSELF.
He doesn’t have the Spider Sense, which means that, unlike the other Spiders, he’s not as innately connected with the fabric of reality.
The creators might be hinting at this with the ending, as well.
When Miguel goes to hunt down the escaped Miles, he takes a small task force of two people he trusts– Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman and Ben Riley’s Scarlet Spider.
What do 2099, Jessica, and Scarlet Spider have in common?
None of them got their powers by being bitten by a radioactive spider.
All of them have a 'canon’ that differs wildly from the traditional Spidey origin story, and usually involves direct gene-splicing (or, in Ben’s case, cloning).
Perhaps Miguel knows something he’s not letting on about how The Canon actually works, and that’s why these two are in is his inner circle? Just a thought.
This whole idea is probably crazy, but it IS a way for the creators to justify why Miles is right. Why Miles will be able to change Fate while Miguel couldn’t. Why Miles won’t destroy the entire multiverse.
Thanks for reading!!
You can check if I’m familiar with a series/piece of media by looking on this list!
You can still suggest a character from something I am unfamiliar with! I’ll just have to rely more on my intuition and give a more general reading than I usually would.
Important: I only have so much time off work and this isn’t a paid service, so I cannot guarantee that I will be able to get to your character. So please keep that in mind. (This is all just for fun and Tarot practice!)

The Hierophant, also known as the High Priest, is all about rules and traditions. This fits Sam because he is a true dapper gentleman! An old-fashioned Englishman from a venerable family, who enjoys boating, tennis, and other well-to-do sports.
The Hierophant is also known as the Teacher, because he passes on sacred knowledge to those under his guidance. Sam might not be a professor, but he does know how to fluently speak both Penguinese AND English. He also looks after his close friend Chip!
Because of its religious imagery, The Hierophant is also associated with marriage. Did you know that, before Dear Daniel came along, TuxedoSam was supposed to be Hello Kittyās love interest? Perhaps he still has feelings for her, even though they are no longer made for one another!
Sam looks up to Santa Claus because he wants to be āloved by kids all around the worldā! Iād say old St. Nickolas fits the imagery of this card perfectly.
The Four of Pentacles is a card of stability and having everything you want. Reversed, it can be a sign of clinginess, or perhaps even greed run amok. Sam is known as a glutton who loves to eat. Also, does one penguin really need three-hundred and sixty-five bowties?! Iād say that crosses the line from vain to hoarding.
Note how there is a city far behind the man, as if heās turned his back on society and distrustfully hides from it. This plus his sour expression suggests that he holds on so tightly to his wealth because of a fear of loss. Sam may be adorable but he is, in fact, a veteran. He served in eight navy battles and was honorably discharged once he reached the rank of captain. I can imagine someone out at sea for so long could perhaps have some issues feeling secure and grounded once back at home. Although, perhaps the reversal suggests that this isnāt as much of an issue, since Sam has his family (Pam and Tam) to support him.
On a more meta level, perhaps the four of Pentacles is reversed because, despite being moderately popular, TuxedoSam has very little merchandise to speak of (in comparison to other Sanrio characters). Those that wish to horde more of this lovable penguin are, sadly, out of luck.
Tuxedo J. Orville Samuel may be a clumsy round boy, but heās also an old-fashioned lad with years of experience! His dapper bowtie and fine sailors hat arenāt simply for show, they reflect a part of his history.
He may be gluttonous, and perhaps a bit of a hoarder, but heās also loving and wants to guide his friends to a happier place.

The Three of Swords is a card about the mind. This isnāt simply a heartbreak, itās a horrifying reality check that hurts oneās soul by challenging their perceptions. Galoās heart was torn when he discovered that his hero, governor Kray, was actually a heartless villain who hated him and was doing unspeakable evils to the Burnished. Like the woman on this card, Galo shed tears of anguish at this revelation.
However, this card is reversed because Galo refused to let this news break him completely. His resolve was steadfast, and he simply added Kray to his list of people that needed to be saved.
The three swords could also represent how Galo was thrust into conflict by being caught between three worldsā Kray/Freeze Force, the Burnished, and Burning Rescue. The card is reversed because Galo doesnāt stay in the middle for longā he and Burning Rescue both siding with the Burnished as soon as Krayās corruption was revealed.
Death usually does not mean a literal death, moreso a metamorphosis. However in this instance, the Death card could be referring to both.
Galo changed over the course of the story from an enemy of Mad Burnish, to an ally who understood the government was the true evil and wanted to help Lio to stop it. However, Death is reversed because Galo didnāt really change who he was at heart. He would have helped Lio from the very beginning, if only he had known the truth then.
In terms of literal death being reversed, we see it in Galoās backstory. His entire family died thanks to Krayās fire, and yet Galo did not let being an orphan stop him. He stayed passionate about his goals and interests up until the current day.
As a firefighter who recklessly charges into danger to save peopleās lives, it makes sense why Galo would spit in the face of death.
His quick thinking saved Lioās life. After that, he directly helped Lio save the lives of hundreds of Burnish and (by quelling the promare) the lives of everyone on the planet.
Conclusion:
These cards demonstrate Galoās unbreakable fire-fighting soul! Even when his family died, even when everyone made fun of him for being an idiot, even when Kray betrayed him, even now that the world is in shambles from the Promareās eruptions⦠In spite of the darkness around and inside him, Galo keeps pushing on. Heartbreak and hardship, completely turned around by sheer tenacity!

The 6 of Cups is a card about wallowing in the past, and when itās reversed those memories usually arenāt pleasant ones. Look at how the child on the card is alone- just like Qrow, who was called a curse and ostracized because of his semblance.
Even if his semblance wasnāt so terrible, Qrow could never have a real childhood because he was raised in the Branwen Tribe, where he was forced to grow up fast or die.
In a more literal sense, these cups could represent how Qrow copes with his own turmoil by drowning his feelings in alcohol.
Looking more outwardly, perhaps this card represents how Qrow wanted to provide a good childhood for Ruby & Yang. He felt guilty for being unable to stop Summerās death, so he resolved to help Tai by training the girls in the art of combat. To give them the childhood he never had.
Upright, the 6 of Swords is a card about moving on and realizing the need to let go, but reversed it can be a sign of being stuck.
For his whole life, Qrow believed in Ozpin and loyally followed through on his mission. But after learning the truth about Salem, his whole reason for living was pulled out from under him. It caused him to fall into a despair of realizing that there was no winning, nowhere to hide, and no reason to keep going on.
Swords is the suit of the mind, so this card could represent how Qrow is stuck in a place of mental anguish. Note the womanās dark attire and veil, which hint at mourning. Qrow is haunted by the memory of the things he did when he was a ruthless Branwen, and haunted by the people who had to be sacrificed for Ozpinās greater good.
The swords keep the boat seaworthy, but when flipped upside-down, they fall out and the water comes in. Thus the mind is overcome by emotions.
In the Tarot, the Fives are usually cards of conflict and turmoil, and the Sixes are the cards of recovering from that turmoil. Because both of these Sixes are reversed, it hints at the fact that Qrow still hasnāt recovered from his mental and emotional traumas.
He tries to stay cool, but all of his choices are still guided by fear.
Qrow had started on the right path when he began to believe in Ruby and gave up drinking in Atlas, but with everything that happened with Salemās attack, Ironwoodās betrayal, and Cloverās death⦠Qrowās once again trapped in despair.

Much like the King of Cups, Kotetsu is a father figure and master of his emotions. He has been through it all- love, excitement, loss. He has an earnest appreciation for the turbulent waters of life and likes connecting with others.
However, he wears his heart in his chest and not on his sleeve. If you look at the King, his smile is stern and his eyes are closed. The windows to his soul are guarded. Unlike the Queen of Cups, who knows the importance of letting feelings flow freely within her court, the stoic King takes into account how his emotions effect others and thus controls them strategically. This reflects in Kotetsu, who will purposefully hide when something is wrong because he doesnāt want to worry other people.
But despite this facade, we know that Kotetsu frets and worries constantly about the people he loves and his own perceived shortcomings. We also know that Kotetsu copes with his intense feelings by drowning himself in alcohol. In that case, the Kingās cup could represent literal drinks, and his executive status represents how Kotetsuās relationship with alcohol is functional (most of the time).
On a lighter note, the raised cup could represent how Kotetsu likes to invite people out drinking as a way to socialize. He wants to raise a toast to celebrate his friends!
Like the figure on the Two of Wands, Kotetsu is ambitious. Becoming a hero has been his dream ever since he was youngā and it sparking so early in his life reflects in the low number (only two out of ten; this is the start of a journey).
When your powers make you 100% larger than life, it takes a lot of control to not crush everything. But look at how the world is gently cradled in the manās hands. This reflects how Kotetsu feels like he must protect everyone.
However the unfortunate reality is that being a hero is much more than just saving people. Look at how the man is facing away from the world behind him. This reflects how Kotetsu struggles to put on a show for a camera and meet the social demands of being a televised hero.
The number two is all about balance and choices, and for Kotetsu those choices are: to keep following his dream of being a hero at the expense of his home life, or to give up on his dream and focus on being a good father with a steady job. What the fiery two of wands suggests is that Kotetsuās passion for being a hero will always burn him, even if he couldnāt do it anymore.
Kotetsu feels constantly at war with himself. Deep down, he wants to keep following his childhood dream of being a hero, but he knows that the person he is now is not the same man who was once one of the top-ranking heroes years ago. Heās a father and a widower; his heart has grown deeper, for better and for worse.
Heās an earnest goofball, but heās not naive. He wants to be there for his daughter, but he also wants to prove to his late wifeā and to himselfā that he can keep fighting till the end.
The conflict makes him drown in emotions, but he tries his best to cope with those feelings and keep pressing onward.

The Knight of Swords, like all the Knights, rides a horse in order to facilitate decisive movement. With the wispy snow in the artwork, it almost appears as this Knight is in the clouds, which is fitting, since the suit of Swords represents the element of Air. Swords are also the suit of the Mind and Thoughts. All of this reflects Silver perfectly- he uses his mental psychokinetic powers to float through the sky and keep up with speedsters like Sonic.
Like a knight, Silver is on a mission. He is courageous, chivalrous, and has a strong sense of justice. He will not hesitate to save the ones he loves and defend the future from evil.
That being said, look at how fast this Knight is moving, sword at the ready. This shows how Silverās righteous attitude can lead to impetuousness. Heās quick to jump to conclusions and accuse others if he thinks they will get in the way of his mission. Many times he has hurt perfectly good people just because heās gotten the facts wrong.
Nonetheless, he keeps moving forward and never gives up.
Like the Angels depicted on Temperance, Silver wants to find a way to restore balance. However, like this Reversed angel, his resources are desolate. The sand she pours represents the dark future he grew up in, and the water from the upright angel represents him going back in time to restore the world to how it should be.
The swirling patterns on their dress represent the ripple effects of Silverās actions and his is confusion about his purpose. Even with the future saved, Silver keeps coming back to the past because heās become attached to it. Heās not comfortable resting on his laurels, and would rather risk messing with the balance of reality itself than try to adapt to a new, unfamiliar life.
Silver needs to be more careful, not just when heās saving the future but also when heās deciding how to live his life. He needs to temper that childish feistiness and vindictive justice of his before he jumps to conclusions on his missions.
When things are peaceful, Silver should accept things as they are and stay in his own time, lest he unravel the entire space-time continuum with his shenanigans. He doesnāt understand that his incredible power doesnāt always need to be directed at something. Silverās more than just a hero without a cause, and he should come to terms with that.
